Davison High School held a mock car crash to help raise drunk driver awareness just a few days before prom. Two vehicles were filled with high school students portraying drunk drivers, passengers and a fatality. I had heard of and seen these events before and thought it may be interesting but assumed I’d have to stay where the students were, but when I arrived a local tv camera was all over the place so I followed suit. The Flint Journal elected to run two of my photographs on the front page of the Friday edition which was then quickly grabbed for the collection.

Firefighters cut the roof off the vehicle to take him out, "The scariest part was when they were cutting the post nearest me...I didn't know how close it was" LaRocque added. 5/10/12 Davison, Michigan

I was in the area of Clio, Michigan today when our cops writer called to ask how close I was to an address, ‘no one is hurt, but should be a decent sized fire’ was what I heard him say. It turned into a scene with four fire departments on scene racing to get war to the guys fighting the fire as there were no fire hydrants in range. I shot a gallery full for the Flint Journal but here is my favorite photograph from the scene.

I was awoken by a call from Ryan Garza at the Flint Journal to wake up and get shooting as there had been flooding overnight across Flint. This was the second time in a year I’ve received more or less the same call. I looked out my window and saw the whole street my hotel was on was flooded. I spent the morning and afternoon driving to various locations covering the flood, these three were all from one apartment complex that was hit pretty hard due to poor drainage.
